90 Points

Friday, October 11, 2013 - Occasional dinner group; Bordeaux 2003 plus some extras.: Day 1. Beautiful and smoky bouquet with cassis and some coffee as well. On the palate elegant with cassis, ok acidity and tannin which is still youthful, but also some green bell pepper. Day 2 the wine is still alive and kicking. Elegant and a pleasant bite and good juice, but overall lacking the concentration to be really great. Overall a classical Claret, early maturity now and around 2016/2018 probably at its peak.

    Nice 03 B'x selection.
I have been reading during years that 2003 was terrible because that heat giving no respect to the vines self-regulation when suffering cause hot.
I think this vintage is not great but certainly hot, I mean a really good one
    Cheers,

    Cheers!
