Friday, September 25, 2020 - Smells like bedrock! Sun drenched dark loam, black cherry/bramble fruit, and some high toned citrus. In the mouth, Not fruit forward at all, instead expressing some minerally, earthy-funky, dried herb, and rhubarb-floral flavors. A bit of zin berry on the finish, but otherwise could be mistaken for an old school CdP (of the Mourvèdre driven variety). Fairly structured and savory, with some pretty rustic tannins. 39% Carignane, 39% Zinfandel, and 22% Mourvèdre. If I had more bottles, I’d probably wait another 2-3 years before trying again. 90

Day 2: this has picked up steam - more generous nose, and a new brightness on the palate. Still dark funk and tannic, but a seam of delineated red fruit also emerges, along with a more fleshed out frame. Likely has another 3-5 years before hitting a plateau, and will drink well for another 5-10 after that. 92
