Saturday, December 24, 2022 - My last 750 of this. I've had a lot of good reds this week (see my reviews) but this is the only one I would drink again in a New York minute. Full bodied Rutherford Cabernet with a slightly jagged and grippy mouthfeel. Blackberry compote, truffle oil, tar and tobacco, hint of black cherry cordial. Definitely a darker wine for sure. Finished with a lot of of grit, herbal dirty tannins. As it sat open and warmed a bit, some mushroom au jus and black olive started to appear. The wine is commanding. Opened up to be paired with a roast that had been slow cooking for 7-8 hours and was a great complement. I only have a magnum of this left and based on this experience from 750, I think that mag will sit for another decade!
