2013 Sanguis My Soul Is Rested

Community Tasting Note

Thursday, January 4, 2024 - Pop and pour into a decanter. In the glass, very dark purplish-red. On the nose, blueberries lead the way, followed by fresh ground pepper, honeysuckle, roses, and a hint of peach. Even if I hadn't read the other tasting notes, this is clearly a co-fermented blend (which Sanguis does very well, and which I love - such fun wines). On the palate, a cool burst of dark berries on the attack, followed by a wild, not particularly integrated mix of fruit and almost-funky floral notes. I kind of agree with every other taster's notes, but I think I'm closest in spirit to Quiet Lion's note - treat it like a delicious cocktail wine. It's a wild thing, and I wish I had a case of it.
