Tuesday, May 27, 2014 - The wine was at low neck level. Cork came out good and cork still had some elasticity. The wine looked mature in color but not brown except for the edge. The wine has been in a very cool cellar since release. The bouquet was of coffee, cedar and little black fruit. On the palate the wine still had a firm degree of tannins and the body is medium. It is a powerful wine with a lot of flavor of cocoa, coffee and dark dried fruit. The wine was in excellent condition although it was probably a bit brighter and with a little more fruit in the balance had it been drunk five years ago. It was good but fully mature. I tasted this wine about 15 years ago and it was very unimpressive. This wine finally fulfilled Parker's positive rating. However, Parker probably wouldn't have recommended waiting this long to drink this wine and would have missed this quality of this wine at maturity.
