This is my kind of Bordeaux! Quite youthful looking and tasting for a 25 year old, it needs about 3 hours to fully open up. Cocoa and flowers on the nose. Medium bodied with good acidity and fine tannins. Cassis, tobacco, coffee and blackberry on the palate. Elegant, tasty and impressively long. In a great place today but it feels like it still has upside.

The wine was at low neck level. Cork came out good and cork still had some elasticity. The wine looked mature in color but not brown except for the edge. The wine has been in a very cool cellar since release. The bouquet was of coffee, cedar and little black fruit. On the palate the wine still had a firm degree of tannins and the body is medium. It is a powerful wine with a lot of flavor of cocoa, coffee and dark dried fruit. The wine was in excellent condition although it was probably a bit brighter and with a little more fruit in the balance had it been drunk five years ago. It was good but fully mature. I tasted this wine about 15 years ago and it was very unimpressive. This wine finally fulfilled Parker's positive rating. However, Parker probably wouldn't have recommended waiting this long to drink this wine and would have missed this quality of this wine at maturity.
Medium body; nice balance; not real complex but solid wine with pleasant finish; held up very well evern after being open for 6 hours; probaly at its peak but will drink well for several more years.

Drinkable, not really flawed, but has faded and clearly seen better days.

Another great bottle of this. At $20 a bottle, it's a stunning QPR. In its prime right now. Let it breathe for a couple of hours in the bottle.

Corked, too bad as seems to be plenty of fruit underneath, and I liked this a few years ago

1989 Cabernet Sauvignon versus 1989 Bordeaux (Beltramo's, Menlo Park, Ca. 94025): Medium, dark red coloration in the glass, nice, rich wine, slightly rough fruity taste, medium amount of harsh tannins, long finish. My #8 and Group #7. $24.99
