Monday, December 17, 2012 - Dark, dense purple with violet edges that dissipate towards the rim. This has aromas of distinct St. Estephe earth, minerals, and mild oak. The palate is intensely flavored with lead pencil, graphite, black currant, espresso, bitter chocolate, black tea, truffle and toasted oak. This wine is very structured, astute and multi-dimensional ending in a long, mineral-filled finish with a shelf life that can last another 15 years. As opposed to other vintages that bear delicate fruits and/or elegance in the palate, this delivers more of power and intensity with dryer, more bitter streaks. Drink now with 30 minutes of decanting until 2027.
