Thursday, May 26, 2022 - This was sublime. This is my first Grand Cru burgundy so I carefully packed it in my suitcase for a trip to Chicago from the UK to visit my son.

He’s been getting into Pinot Noir from Oregon so I thought it was about time that I reminded him who are the best in the World at Burgundy style wines.

This is young. So a double decant a couple of hours beforehand was my judgement. Nailed it for a wine at this stage of evolution was my opinion and his comment that “this is superb” said it all for me. I also have another five bottle in the cellar so happy days!

We savoured this bottle over a couple of hours from the 32nd floor of his apartment at night with the Sears Tower (I know it’s called something else these days so don’t bother correcting me!) playing the Ukrainian Flag Colours. Magical!

What an experience which is what wine should all be about in my humble opinion.

Very special ambience. Thanks for sharing.
