90 Points

Friday, September 27, 2013 - Keith's 50th Birthday Celebration (Bin 75): Carmine core with orangey rim, some age; tart cherry, good not great, almost some iron in there, a little simple; overmatched by others today; very similar to last wine; called Camus.

10/7/2013 12:55:00 PM - I like their wines, as it gives one a chance to taste some older Chambertin a reasonable tariff. Camus owns the largest share of lots in Chambertin GC, and some of the best blocks. They sell most of their grapes but make wine each year, very old style. I think I like Mazy-Chambertin better as their is a bit less oak that needs to integrate and more mineral content. Still enjoyable.

10/7/2013 1:04:00 PM - Thanks for the note. I have grown very familiar with their wines, and I believe they sell the good grapes... Burgundy is all about the man and not the vineyard.
