Tuesday, February 13, 2018 - Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Pleased to be trying this again, with no perceptible differences from last fall. Bright, deep pink with ruby hues. The bubbles are vigorous at first, with a bright pink mousse. The nose is clean, fresh, with medium (+) aromas of ripe strawberries, Damascus roses, tart raspberries, lemon/lime zest and sweet spices such as ginger, clove and cinnamon (although it sees no oak). The palate is sweet, with more than 100g/l of residual sugar, but is sufficiently offset by medium (+) to high acidity to yield a balanced and enticing sipper. The alcohol is unobtrusive at 7% and likewise makes Brachetto ever so easy to consume. This sparkler pairs great with savory, sharp cheeses or dark chocolate ganache desserts and mousses. Drink now, not intended for aging.
