2005 Noon Eclipse

Thursday, December 3, 2015 - A big, bold and powerful Shiraz. The 2005 Eclipse provides a massive array of dark fruit. There is a beautiful perfume of white flowers, eucalyptus, candy, raspberry and milk chocolate. The palate comes across as lacking a bit of integration tonight. It is still a 'young' wine. But there certainly is plenty of balance too. Texture and structure is perhaps not that necessary to mention - there is enough for both king and country. I am sure time will do this effort justice. It drinks terrifically well tonight too, but given some further rest in the cellar it will most likely continue to develop even further. (score is 96+)

Tasted in a flight with 2005 Colgin IX Estate Syrah, 2005 Ojai Special Bottling Bien Nacido Syrah, 2005 Noon Shiraz and 2005 Kaesler Old Bastard Shiraz.
