Saturday, December 26, 2015 - Opaque purple color turning violet at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose shows good complexity but highlights nuances of earth, leather, and herbal character over ripeness of fruit, albeit still very evident. The palate is full-bodied with a velvety texture featuring flavors of dark cherry, licorice, tobacco, espresso, anise, and cola. The mid palate takes a dive but slides through a decent finish with smooth, refined spicy tannin. Drink now with a 30-minute decant until 2021.
