95 Points

Monday, January 15, 2024 - Heidi's Gang: Wind Chill & Frostbite (Maison Margaux, Mpls): Pale gold color. Drank a glass over an hour plus side by side with the '17 Genevrieres and '17 Corton-Charlemagne. This was an amazing trio by any measure. The CC was a standout immediately on pouring and continued to evolve. The Genevrieres was also open for business from the start, showing none of the reduction of the Perrieres. The Perrieres was more reclusive to start and showed some of the trademark reduction. Stony, clean, lemon confit, lime, sleek, gunflint, reductive but seemingly not ready to strut tonight. Then, with seemingly little warning after easily 40+ minutes or more, it blows up, shedding all of the reduction. Then, like a butterfly shedding its cocoon, this beautiful creature flaps it wings and all is right with the world. The power is there, the purity, the sheer presence shines through. Wow, what a trasformation. 95+ to 96(+)pts at peak.
