  • This took a while to fully unfurl, but once it did it was utterly compelling. I loved it.

  • Heidi's Gang: Wind Chill & Frostbite (Maison Margaux, Mpls): Pale gold color. Drank a glass over an hour plus side by side with the '17 Genevrieres and '17 Corton-Charlemagne. This was an amazing trio by any measure. The CC was a standout immediately on pouring and continued to evolve. The Genevrieres was also open for business from the start, showing none of the reduction of the Perrieres. The Perrieres was more reclusive to start and showed some of the trademark reduction. Stony, clean, lemon confit, lime, sleek, gunflint, reductive but seemingly not ready to strut tonight. Then, with seemingly little warning after easily 40+ minutes or more, it blows up, shedding all of the reduction. Then, like a butterfly shedding its cocoon, this beautiful creature flaps it wings and all is right with the world. The power is there, the purity, the sheer presence shines through. Wow, what a trasformation. 95+ to 96(+)pts at peak.

  • Heidis Group in the Minneapolis "Warehouse District" on a bone chilling night. Same spectacular blt as Brad E. My clear #2 of 3 stellar PYCMs in the same flight. Opened alongside a 17 PCYM Meursault Genevrières & the 17 PCYM Corton-Charlemagne. On any given day this could just as easily have been my top choice of the 3. Also, very ethereal & elegant like my top choice tonight, the CC but there's something about Corton Charlemagne I guess that makes it the wine of kings :). It's really fun to have all three at the same table to savor the differences but I'd almost prefer to give 110% of my attention to anyone of these. Thanks Brad for bringing these! I love them!

  • PNP. Flight of 13 and 17 PYCM Meursault Perrieres. Pale yellow. Crisp lemon and flint nose, lovely spice. Complex and multi layered palate, tight and linear with a deeply flavored yet restrained palate. This was much preferred to the 13.

  • Thé 2017 Meursault Perrieres is on another league compared to the Benoit and Arnaud Ente Puligny 1er Crus next to it. Ultra-high pitched buttery toast, glossy white fruits and wet slates. It’s fresh yet didn’t feel too young, rather generous on the nose and expansive on the palate. Really flattering with a lengthy finish. Lucky for those who has some. (92-93/100)

  • Served by the glass. Another example of how an energy wine can be tamed with ripe citrus fruit and mineral notes of limestone and slate. Dry texture, soft but slightly rough. Evidently there is tension and balance. Tasty and a long life ahead.

  • PYCM's 2017 Perrières is a tightly wound ball of energy, intense and concentrated but requiring lots of air to reveal orchard fruit, matchstick reduction, and crushed stone. On the palate bright acidity and smokey minerality frame pear flavors. Excellent. Drink starting 2026.

  • Initially, one of the least accessible of the 2017 whites opened to date. With air and warmth, opened up quite nicely, but still retained a fair amount of tension. While it can be enjoyed now, I'd wait a bit if you only have a couple of bottles.

  • Double blind. Some reduction on the nose, but what immediately comes through are the tropical flavors - banana, guava, maybe some melon. The palate is ripe, with a decent balance but clear oak with a touch of that same tropicality on the finish. The acidity is relatively low, which made me think 2015. On a night where my calls on the reds was generally off the mark, I at least nailed this by calling it a 15 PYCM Meursault 1er (though Charmes not Perrieres). There is a distinctive style to these wines, though it's just not the one I prefer.

  • Immediately full, floral and generous, but tightens quickly in the glass. There’s a piercing citrus quality to the wine and it oozes minerality. It has great breadth, depth and persistence.

  • A ball of citrus and mineral potential. So much intensity and energy. So tight!
