Sunday, November 27, 2005 - 100% cab, decanted. wish i had stood it up for a while, as there was a lot of mud. however, it was a spur of the moment decision to drink this with kobe steaks. aeration helps this wine considerably. following it in the glass has been interesting, as it has definitely improved over time. first sips were a bit tart, but that completely disappeared, and quickly, with air. the wine is a bold expression of the grape, so, it's not for the feint of heart. nevertheless, it has enough balance to be recommended. licorice and classic cassis on the nose. there is still a significant amount of tannin to resolve, yet it's ok to open one now. i predict that in the 7-10 year window, this will be drinking even more beautifully. i've leveled a fair amount of criticism at pride for their dumb ass, antiquated ordering system, but they make a decent wine. i'm not convinced that anything but the reserve cab is worth the slobbering adoration it receives on this board, but, there is no mistaking this wine as a quality product. bordeaux lovers can eat shit and die rather than drink this.
