Thursday, December 23, 2021 - This pours light ruby in the glass, fairly pale as I’d expect from volnay. The nose is neither all that expressive or complex but what does show is classical burgundy, showing beetroot, raspberry, cranberry, dry twigs and a touch of green plan leaf. The palate is a touch more interesting than the nose with an inner sweetness of red fruit augmented by medium minus tannin, medium acid, and a slightly bitter green plant leaf note. This is a pleasant and enjoyable glass of red burgundy but a far cry from the price point it’s offered at.
