Drinking at first peak now, pure cherry and rose, pretty and exotic. Spice and oak. But the oak has a little bit longer to integrate. 10 year till second peak

This pours light ruby in the glass, fairly pale as I’d expect from volnay. The nose is neither all that expressive or complex but what does show is classical burgundy, showing beetroot, raspberry, cranberry, dry twigs and a touch of green plan leaf. The palate is a touch more interesting than the nose with an inner sweetness of red fruit augmented by medium minus tannin, medium acid, and a slightly bitter green plant leaf note. This is a pleasant and enjoyable glass of red burgundy but a far cry from the price point it’s offered at.

La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Walk around tasting. Pretty red cherry and berry with spice throughout. Good weight, this should drink well young (from 2023?) but then evolve well for a couple of decades.

La Paulée 2020 Grand Tasting of 2017 Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Light, green, and earthy, but nice underlying dull red fruit. Classic mineral-driven Taillepieds.

Musique & Vin Pre-Concert Volnay Dégustation (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Tasting, brief note. Pretty red cherry and berry with moderate weight, better length. Nicely spiced finish. Fully accessible now.
