94 Points

Sunday, April 21, 2024 - This was everybody’s but mines favorite tonight. It has superb complexity and a highly elegant frame. With the very vinous character but especially the oxidative aromas, it‘s just not my favorite style of Champagne. I preferred the Dom Perignon 2010 (95pts) in the next glass, on paper a weaker vintage and in reality for sure a less complex and fine wine. There is no denying that this Egly is grand, but you have to like the style. 94/95pts.

TN: Expressive nose with fine oxidative aromas, autolysis notes, wrapped around a citrus and white fruit core. Same intensive aromas on the palate with more caramel and toffee, as well as a layer of yellow fruit. Very high complexity, superb precision, very vinous in its style but with the typical ageing notes of Champagne. The frame is ultra elegant with very fine mousse, good freshness, superb balance and roudness. Complete.

Decanting: Not decanted, open and expressive from the go. No decanting needed.
