90 Points

Friday, July 15, 2011 - Beautiful, clear, bright, medium-deep ruby color, really pretty to look at in the glass. Smoky, mixed fruit compote nose, with very faint oak. There is also a blast of raw alcohol that almost stings the eyes but largely blew off with time in the glass. On the palate, along with the almost boisterously cheery fruit, the alcohol lends a peppery heat that dissipates somewhat mid-palate. Lots of very juicy acidity and minimal tannins through a slightly muted but clean finish. Generally a very modern, ripe and hot style of Burgundy, but it is still light and shows some elegance, and the fruit is so charming this is very pleasant drinking. I would drink these relatively soon, paired with the right food to handle the acidity, as I could see this becoming awkward with age. From 375ml bottle.
