Friday, December 24, 2021 - Ruby red. Open, but lighter, nose right from the PnP. Cherries, strawberries, earth, barnyard, with a hint of black tea and mushrooms. Medium bodied, medium acidity (but not flabby), dry, smooth, with a light extraction. Palate is a spot-on Bourgogne – cherries, strawberries, a bit of leather. Firm tannins bring along black tea and black pepper. Finish is long, tannic, with a huge mineral streak.
This is not a deep wine – What did show up is well executed and what I expect from Jadot’s Bourgogne bottling. Unfortunately the price tag of $17.50-$20 does beg the QPR question, but it is still hard not to enjoy a well-made Burgundy.
