Tuesday, January 18, 2011 - Had this 3+ years ago, and found it to be overly acidic and thin. Since I didn't like it then, I placed a bet that maybe this would evolve into something better with a few years. And in fact, that's exactly what has happened.
On the nose, a bit of petrol, some acidic-laden fruits. On the palate, the acidity isn't fully resolved, but it's well on its way, with a remarkable fruit richness that wasn't in evidence last time around. More Alsatian than German in terms of sweetness. A few more bottles left, and I'd be inclined to let them sit for another few years.
Update: the longer this is open, the better it gets (e.g more integrated/balanced). Even G. likes it, and she normally hates Rieslings (especially those from Germany). While I was originally disappointed in these, thinking that even the $6 I paid for them was too much, I'm singing a different tune today.
