90 Points

Tuesday, October 23, 2012 - Opened this without looking at prior notes. Big mistake. This is not the typical riesling, as it seems to have about 0% residual sugar (not the pairing for a German dinner I was expecting). But....very good, and it has continued to improve.

On the nose, a bit of petrol is about the only thing that might give this away as a Riesling. On the palate, very dry to the point that my wife was guessing "sauvignon blanc". Still a good acidic backbone, but much more balanced against the fruit than it was on release. While the fruit has come forward, this is in no way "fruity". Hints of minerality or tannins on the backend....not sure which but there is a slight sense of dryness on the finish. Overall a nice wine that might continue to improve with time. This is neither light or refreshing. It's not one to put in the wine bota for a winter ski outing. It is a nicely crafted dry wine with significant acidity that begs for the right food pairing. I could see this with grilled shrimp dusted with cajun spices.
