Wednesday, January 9, 2013 - One of the highly anticipated wines in my cellar I've been dying to try after buying it and aging over 5 years ago. It is now the greatest shiraz I've tasted. The colour is dark ruby with some light purple hues. The nose is of tar, cherries and cassis. Very concentrated. On the palette wow!! First impressions, Its so smooth and absolutely delicious. Sweet fruits with tons of complexities. Very refined and balanced. Tannins are still a little grippy. Gorgeous wine!! Not overripe or overpowering. I've had heartland director's cut, wallace, bishop and mitolo GAM. This one is in its own league. I love bordeauxs and this one is different but will be my go to shiraz for special occasions. Love it! And glad to still own many more bottles. Amazing shiraz. BTW - didn't decant. 97-98 points. 2003-2007 are probably the better Amon Ra vintages.
