Friday, June 3, 2011 - Wow. the nose was forest floor, crimini mushrooms, morels and dark berries fully ripened on the vine from the hot summer sun. There was wonderful structural integrity with good tannins and acidity. Not a super silky wine, but smooth with a weighty mouthfeel. 2006 was a ripe year and Domaine Serene is not known for super restrained wines, but this wine had very nice balance and harmony. A delicious taste treat that garners kudos to the winemaker to crafted a round, ripe wine with restraint and a certain elegance.
