96 Points

Saturday, June 11, 2022 - Thinking about buying more to lay down in light of Dunnuck’s 95+ rating but wanted to get an idea where it’s at first. I’m a big fan of what Bevan has done with this vineyard and curious how Thomas Rivers Brown compares - pretty darn good. Purple fruit - blackberry, currants, dark cherry, and some plum. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration. Nice rich flavors of dark berries, some spice/licorice, chocolate/cocoa, cassis, and a mineral/graphite component. Fairly long finish. Decanted for three hours and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time but drinking well after the decant despite its youth. In my opinion, more or less in line with Dunnuck’s rating even at this youthful stage - 95/96. Although it is obviously very young and some improvement is expected with more time as it develops further. 100% cab.

6/11/2022 3:22:00 PM - I believe you’ll be pleased. In my opinion, not far off my recent tastings of the 2016 & 2017 Bevan Tench cabs even at this really youthful stage. Take care.
