Wednesday, June 7, 2023 - This pours light ruby in the glass with flecks of pink toward the watery rim. The nose is classic bourdy of crabberry, used leather, wet hay, animal fur, light cherry, chicken broth, and thyme. The palate is particularly structured compared to other vintages I've had, showing medium plus tannin and medium minus acid. The finish fizzles out, dominated by the structure. All in all this is nicely lightly extracted and features some of the classic hallmarks of the aromatic profile I appreciate from Jean Bourdy, but it feels clipped, disjointed and dominated by structure. Perhaps it will be long lived, but at this young stage I can't say I'm really enjoying this very much.
