91 Points

Thursday, October 23, 2008 - Popped and set aside for 2+ hours aeration. Even for a QC, this wine exhibits a deep hue....darker than the 2003 and 2004. Very closed aromatically, some notes of red & black fruits, herbs, oak, and a touch of reduction. Medium-plus body. Interesting red fruits on the palate....cherry, raspberry, even strawberry. Certainly more herbaceous than prior vintages, think tobacco leaf with a hint of anise. Big, chewy tannins. The oak is much better integrated in 2005 (especially when compared to the '03). On day 2 it didn't budge....maybe closed down even further! Still, this has a great core of fruit.

There is a lot going on in this one, but it NEEDS time in bottle. Tremendous potential, I'll open my next in 2010.
