Saturday, October 14, 2023 - This wine seems to have two groups of thought: (1) only good and too lean and (2) very nice, classic but not great. I’m firmly in the later camp. Opened 6 hours before drinking. Ruby color that is showing some initial maturity. The Cabernet Franc is certainly present on the nose, but opposed to the harsh profile of the Detert consumed last week, this wine shows herbaceousness married with cinnamon, red fruits and crushed rock. I find this very complex with enough sweetness to bring a smile. Swampy. The palate is mature, medium/light bodied and reasonably deep. No, this is not monumental. Yet it is not a lean, uninspired wine either. A great match with roast chicken, I will drink remaining bottles over the next few years. (93)
