Likes this wine:

Wednesday, March 13, 2013 - And here we have yet a prime example of how difficult it can be to judge a wine ... My latest note on this one is almost a year old, and was kind of luke warm.
Now I'm a lot more positive, and it's difficult to say why. Did it really happen that much during a year or was it me? I don't know, but together with some nice monday Bolognese con Sedani Rigati and a bunch of parmigiano, this one comes alive. Lovely Barolo-notes come like smokesignals out of the glass after just 15 minutes in the decanter: Mentol glue, rowanberries, rosehip, gravel, licorice, tar and herbs. Mouthwise it's quite slender, but does not lack neither punch nor personality. Acidity is very good, and the tarry elements of the wine work very good with the pancetta that is in the Bolognese. The rowanberries get support from cherries and cranberries and it's really good. Sure it has tannins still, but they're not oaky or bitter.
If I thought 87-88 a year ago, I'd say 91-ish now. Pleasant surprise.
