Sunday, November 11, 2012 - Pale yellow gold with a nose of honeysuckle, quince and minerals. Medium to full body with flavors of pineapple, pear and slate. Seems to have the appropriate level of sweetness for a spätlese (as in, not a declassified auslese) but less acidity than I would have expected from the vintage. Seems to be in a good place in its drinking window, but not yet showing much in the way of secondary flavors. Moderate finish, and a nice wine overall, but could use a bit more persistence and energy. Certainly outclassed in my opinion by Prum's Graacher and Wehlener späts.
