Saturday, May 7, 2011 - Nice deep magenta color. Not opaque at all, but a deep dark red. Sniffing the empty bottle after P&P into the decanter. Real earthy, some black/green olives. Dried herbs, then some heat/alch american oak vanilla. This is still wound tight out of the bottle. Can smell the spicy red fruit in there now. Typical Ridge mouthfeel, bit of glycerin velvet, then some nice acid tannins waves of fruit, then a tight young finish. Lingering bright red fruits. This is a good example of some fun stuff Ridge does with Zin the weird blend is totally working, resolved into a great nose, palate & finish. Kinda like a Cali Zin version of a CdP.
