Friday, March 15, 2013 - PnP. Nose is a bit muted and there is a lot of alcohol present. Color is dark ruby turning brownish red on the edges. The palate is very dominated by the alcohol. Strikingly so, which makes it hard to pick up what fruit is there. 45 minutes in the alcohol on the nose has blown off and subsided on the palate. Dark fruit, white pepper spice on the finish. Not very complex. Ended up being a pleasant sipper with mild acid after it settled down. Was hoping for much more at this price point. Even though the alcohol blew off, I would recommend consuming these now instead of later. I suspect the dominance of alcohol will only get worse with age.
