Saturday, September 4, 2010 - Consistent with prior notes from April. Dark inky purple color. No light passing. Rich bombastic fruit flavors literally leap out of the glass to hit your nose! Sucker punch! Really, this has some wonderful fruit on tap. Rich and deep black and blue berry. Doing the Mollydooker shake really does help blow off some of the heat. Allowed to sit open for one hour before pouring. The difference from the Boxer level label, is the smooth and velvety approach on the palate. All the richness of the fruit, Syrup, and expresso bean is there, with less of the oak and tannic bit. What it does well, it does really well. However, this is close to desert in a glass, and really hard to pair with food. Went well with a slice of pecan pie, but not as much with lighter fare. This is a worthy bottle, but is not for the faint of heart!
