Wednesday, January 27, 2010 - Pulled a cork to see what all the fuss was about... although very young and primary, the 2007 Charvin is clearly a stunner with a tremendous purity of ripe raspberry fruit in a light, spicy style with impressive balance. Relatively light in color, but with a nearly satiny finish, the wine coats the palate and offers waves of aromatic and flavor complications (lavender and licorice come to mind). Too young right now, but when this matures it will have a great deal in common with Marcoux VV and other top of the line pure- (or mostly) grenache offerings.
