Saturday, January 9, 2010 - Like most DV wines this is somewhat dry and tannic. The fruit is there, but it needs a little time and coaxing. Drank with wild mushrrom risotto, brought out some nice earthy notes and some darker fruit (dark plum, currant). Still a bit awkward and unsure of itself. A bit like a pretty girl who doesn't know she's pretty. Definitely got better after being opened a bit. Hold off on opening other bottles. DV certainly has its own style. Not for the fruit-bomb set--more old school Cali.
