Sunday, August 9, 2009 - Opened and decanted for 60 minutes. Deep ruby to the edge, nose of black fruit, mostly cherry & currant, and a smoky spice. Medium body but still a big wine with balanced tannins - a bit of burnt oak with a lot of cherry, black currant & smoke on the palate. For all of it's presence I think the '98 is a wine for the next 2-3 years - perhaps best now with at least an hour decanting. Enjoy with food!
