95 Points

Sunday, August 25, 2013 - Decanted for 2 hours. Dark ruby/purple color. Very high viscosity. Pretty explosive nose of kirsch, garrigue, cassis and some pepper and sweet spices. On the palate there is tons of cherry and kirsch, garrigue, licorice and some jammy overall impression. It's full-bodied, has high but silky tannins and a medium acidity. It is so dense an jammy, it feels almost sweet. But there is enough structure from the tannins and the acidity to balance the opulence. Super long finish. RP rates it 98+, which seems to be a little generous at this stage. Nevertheless, this is a super-concentrated, dense Grenache-fruitbomb. Maybe some more bottle-age will add additional aromatic complexity... To be totally honest, I have a hard time understanding some of the other ratings here...
