Thursday, June 5, 2014 - PnP. Perfect cork. Medium dark red; slight clearing at the rim. Mineral, spice, dark fruits on the nose, but this is more earthy than anything else. On the palate, for a Volnay this is a heavyweight, although not ponderous, excellent fruit: earth balance and a long finish. Clearly will age further although close to maturity. After an hour or so this really blossoms into a wonderful wine; smooth, lovely fruit, with the earth tones playing a counterbalance. At peak with an hour of air.
