Saturday, September 4, 2021 - Opens with a beautiful multilayered nose of earth, mushrooms, perfumed flowers and pedals. Love the nose. Brick red in colour. On the palette, it’s still tight with tannins but very enjoyable. Medium red fruits of raspberries and cherries. Mid palette is a bit hollow but has a nice finish. Still needs much more time (5+ years). Medium finish. After 1-2 hours in the decanter, edges and tannins smoothed out with a soft supple finish. Remember visiting Troplong Mondot which was the reason for buying these bottles. Regardless very enjoyable from this favourite chateau. 94 today with lots of potential and confidence for growth to 95-96 in years to come. Enjoy!

Updated: On day 2 like most, the nose still had the nice red fruit and perfumed flowers, reminiscent of Saint Emilion. On the palette, the merlot had smoothed out nicely providing a much more plush, softer feel. Excellent and very solid. Can’t wait for the future for this claret – its got a good one.
