Tuesday, November 16, 2021 - Expressive nose displaying concentrated ripe black fruit, blackberry liqueur, crème de cassis, dark milk chocolate, tar, a hint of rose, liquid smoke and earth. There is a strong oak note. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of concentrated sweet black fruit, rich and unctuous, bright acidity, medium earthy mineral, strong oak tannins and a long concentrated black fruit driven finish with oak and liquid smoke at the end. It has mellowed since when I had it last in 2015. Nevertheless, the oak note is still quite strong both in the nose and the palate. The oak will definitely integrate a la Dominique Laurent burgundy. Although obviously no American oak, the oak may express as caramel in another decade or two, as in Bourbon and Riojas. If you don’t like luxurious oak/modern Bordeaux, avoid!
