Friday, July 13, 2018 - Fifth red wine at our wine tasting dinner (#DCWineCru) is the Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon from the Spring Mountain District in Napa Valley. Made up of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Definitely seems like it needed a longer decant to open up nicely.

Dark garnet red with a ruby core. A touch stinky on the nose with some dark berries and gravel as well as a little compost. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium plus bodied. Aged palate with layers of forest floor, truffles, mulched spices and a touch herbal with dark berries underneath. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2028. (91+)
