Bacon fat and florals are the two expressive notes on the bouquet--both strong and center stage and these notes would be a nice teaching tool for new wine drinkers as to what CA syrah can show--very illustrative. Like with other Melville syrahs in the past, blue fruited but this one has a sweet edge to the fruit, along with some pepper and licorice. Like with the 2004 Carlisle Judge syrah, this wine too is IMO at peak prime and ready to go.
