Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - I opened this bottle with trepidation because last time was such a disaster, but it turned out to be a pleasant (if not earth shattering) surprise. Light ruby that deepened in the glass. Nose of moss, underbrush, anise, and blackberry. Lean, high acid style that added a bit of weight and an interesting ground coffee note at the end. A Burgundy for Nebbiolo lovers-it really did have an uncanny resemblance to a Barolo. Good but don't expect a Grand Cru ride.
