Saturday, October 4, 2014 - Brooding black and purple fruits, loads of spices, and prune-like stewed fruits, characteristic of the vintage. On the palate, medicinal cherries, vanilla, some oak, brush, slight sweetness, almost a "twang" (not sure what that means, but I wrote it down and it still resonates). Little acid, some tannins poking out—this is likely at its peak. Short finish. I enjoyed this quite a bit with Turkish food and overall was very pleasantly surprised. Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.
