Saturday, June 11, 2011 - Saturday night is Burg Night with Charlie and Edson (Maison MacKay): We opened this up at around 9pm but barely made a dent in it so the bulk was consumed after about 20 hours and that bit of slow oxygenation had very little, if any, affect on the wine. Very expressive nose with a bit of gaminess mixed with some clove, anise and moist soil. Not the mind blowing nose of the young DRC that was also opened that night but very nice in it's own way. Soft and subtle on the palate and very easy to quaff this one if you wanted to but take some time to the finish, which lasts for quite some time. On one hand I'd like to see a little more oomph at midpalate but on the flipside, I appreciate the subtleties.
