I've had this wine several times before and never been impressed because it seemed too simple and slightly lacking in depth. But not this one; dark ruby to the rim, attractive scent of blackberry and vanilla. So no; it's not the most complex '82, but there's genuine distinction, a wealth of ripe fruit and an oaky touch as well - but now it all adds up to something really nice. A most pleasant middleweight with a beautifully rounded finish and a good future. A 4 hour decanting may have helped. These '82s are getting better and better.
