Thursday, September 26, 2013 - We opened Piper Heidsieck NV and Nicolas Feuillatte NV together for a comparison. While both lacked the depth on the palate that you would associate with Bollinger or Roederer, the Piper had a good biscuity nose of vanilla, while the Feuillatte semlt very neutral in comparison. On the palate, the Piper had better length and was more secondary with nice biscuit flavours. The NF was more apple-based and one dimensional but still well-made.

Overall, it's worth paying a bit more for PH as the NF only provides the primary fruit flavours that one can find in top-notch cava.
