Wednesday, July 25, 2012 - This wine is dark ruby in color, gently fades to lighter ruby at the rim, 14% abv. On the nose, welcome to Funky Town, the barnyard is here. Very cool (if u like that stuff, which I do). I can also pull out a bit of leather, tar, black pepper, and perhaps some plums on the very intense nose. I think even a neophyte could tell that this is Old World...Rhone.
On the palate, the wine is med(+) body, med tannins that are integrating nicely, and med acidity. Flavors of wet rocks and leather, slathered in slightly tart plum juice, sprinkled with black pepper. Very nice, in no way overripe. The finish is med(+) and carries through the same tar/leather and plum notes, with a kick of spice at the end. Very nice mini-CdP, drinks quite well now, should easily last another 4-5 years.
