Saturday, May 30, 2015 - A significant (and remarkable) improvement from the previous bottle tasted in 2011. 20+% Petite Sirah provides an impressive backbone to the wine and requires patience with it (i.e., several years of cellaring are optimal). This is a great example of what few years of cellaring do to a good bottle. Upon opening, beautiful nose and lots of pleasant, albeit somewhat raw, cedar. Decanting improved the wine further. After 1.5-2.0 hours of decanting, the hollow mid-palate filled in and became full and expansive; cedar notes became more balanced, with soulful sweetness on the palate (without being cloy). Delicious wine. Wish I had more left in the cellar.
