Friday, March 17, 2023 - Absolutely a point. Quite dark color. Very serious and penetrating cabernet aromas. Lively palate that is more cutting than plush, and it follows the nose into cabernet and well-aged oak territory. Tannins are well in back and the structure is more of balanced acidity than tannic brawn. While I'm not one to doubt typicity in opposition to claims otherwise, I'm sure I couldn't tell a St. Estephe from a Margaux blind, but for some reason I would say this comes across more as a Pauillac than anything else. And damn good. Fifth of six bottles, this was a nice, well-fruited and even bumptious wine when younger and it has matured suavely.
